Banned UN Speech: "Human Rights Nightmare"

UN Watch director Hillel Neuer really unloads on the blatantly corrupt UN Human Rights Commission in Geneva—and then is denounced by furious council president Luis Alfonso De Alba, who threatens to remove Neuer’s statements from the record.

how your ps3 (aka playstation 3) can help cure cancer

This is a project “people from through out the world download and run software to band together to make one of the largest supercomputers in the world” in order to help in the study of of protein folding and protein folding disease. But why is it even better with the PS3? “This advance utilizes the new Cell processor in Sony’s PLAYSTATION 3 (PS3) to achieve performance previously only possible on supercomputers. With this new technology (as well as new advances with GPUs), we will likely be able to attain performance on the 25 gigaflop scale per computer. With about 40,000 such machines, we would be able to achieve performance on the petaflop scale.”

[13:36:46]

so, a creationist walks into a library, sees all the books and says:

"wow, obviously someone must have written all these books, and stacked them in such an organized way!"
an evolutionist walks by, and says
"what an idiot you are! i bet you believe in pink unicorns and the juju under the sea, too! all this happened by chance, through small changes in the matter of the particles of ink and wood, where only the best information remained and organized itself in a completely independent and random process!!"
yep, thats how you sound..

haha more fun on wikipedia.. Adam's Curse.. the extinction of male humans.. (hahah)

Adam's Curse: A Future Without Men (...) is a 2003 book by Oxford University human genetics professor Bryan Sykes expounding his hypothesis that with the declining sperm count in men and the continual atrophy of the Y chromosome, within 5,000 generations (approximately 125,000 years) the male of the human species will become extinct.
*sigh* ahh geeze.. i guess we have our days counted, guys..

[14:02:03]

for you guys who talk to atheists who make fun of christians (erroneously) saying that its because of the "church" (read: catholic church) that said things like the earth is the center of the universe.. or even that it was the bible that stated this.. *scoff*:

"If Copernicus had any genuine fear of publication, it was the reaction of scientists, not clerics, that worried him. Other churchmen before him — Nicole Oresme (a French bishop) in the fourteenth century and Nicolaus Cusanus (a German cardinal) in the fifteenth — had freely discussed the possible motion of the earth, and there was no reason to suppose that the reappearance of this idea in the sixteenth century would cause a religious stir."
wikipedia article on copernicus, also known as the guy who said the earth is not the center of the universe, and that instead it revolves around the sun..
Aristarchus of Samos in the 3rd century BC elaborated some theories of Heraclides Ponticus (the daily rotation of the Earth on its axis, the revolution of Venus and Mercury around the Sun) to propose what was the first scientific model of a heliocentric solar system: the Earth and all other planets revolving around the Sun, the Earth rotating around its axis daily, the Moon in turn revolving around the Earth once a month. His heliocentric work has not survived, so we can only speculate about what led him to his conclusions. It is notable that, according to Plutarch, a contemporary of Aristarchus accused him of impiety for "putting the Earth in motion."
wikipedia article on ptolemy, also known as the guy who said the earth is still while the sun rotates around it.. notice how it says "impiety".. a religious term.. before the time of Christ, and christians (obviously).. so what piety?? well.. the hellenic religion at the time obviously, also known as "paganism" (you know, zeus, apollo, athena, aphrodite..) so, lets see, the pagans said "the sun revolves around the earth" these catholic guys say (many years later) "the earth revolves around the sun".. and yet, somehow, its the bible thats wrong?? which, as far as i can remember states neither (i might be wrong tho.. since the bible does actually say the earth is round.. in isaiah 40:22).. gah! atheists! and everyone else who criticizes what they dont know!! argh!!

[13:57:44]

still more examples of the "religion of peace", the story of Ayaan Hirsi Ali:

Her older brother Mahad regularly picked on her and once pushed her into a feces-laden outdoor latrine. Her devout Islamic mother, who called her "dumb as a date palm," beat her throughout her childhood.

"Ma" tied Hirsi Ali's hands to her ankles with rope, put her on the floor on her belly, then whipped her mercilessly with a stick or wire.

[...]

Other not-so-sweet memories of childhood? Hirsi Ali's math teacher in Kenya beat her with a black plastic pipe. Her Kenyan Koran teacher, infuriated by signs of defiance, cracked her head against a wall, fracturing her skull and bursting a blood vessel in her eye. She had to undergo an operation on her skull.

English schools get right to ban Muslim veils

In February, the trial of six men accused of plotting suicide bombings in London on July 21, 2005, was told by prosecutors one of the suspects had escaped disguised as a woman in a burqa after the failed attacks.

Two months earlier police said a man wanted for questioning over the murder of a female police officer could have fled the country disguised as a Muslim woman wearing a full veil.

hoooley, the japanese are nuts!! iPod headband featuring bone conduction

[...] A company called Thanko has come up with a rather interesting new headband which acts as a set of headphones without requiring you to put anything in your ears.

Their new product, the VONIA headband, uses bone conduction to send the music through your skull to your brain. This means you don't have to wear anything over your ears, leaving them free to appreciate the sounds of chirping birds and oncoming traffic, or dogs.

ok, time to tell you my weird weird dream of the day, (but not before noting how my time stamp is off by 2 hours on the blog.. hmm.. should say 2pm.. oh well) so my dream.. ohhhh man this dream.. im not going to go into much detail.. but heres the main part, or should i say "first" part.. of the parts i remember.. ok,
so, i was with my wife, and i had already woken up (in the waking life) once already, so i was aware that i had to be awake, but i went back to sleep, and this is where the dream begins.. i was getting ready to go, and my wife was basically ready.. and for some reason there was something to do with socks.. either she was looking for her socks or i dont know what.. i remember it had something to do with specifically black socks.. so it had to be hers.. (i wear white socks).. and we were just getting ready to go to the beach (even tho its a weekday and we have to work).. but it was really oddly gray and gloomy (probably because of the twilight of waking up in the morning and my room being dark) in any case i think we were also waiting for my sister or something.. but i dont remember.. in any case at some point the dream became about me hanging out with jennifer lopez (aka j.lo) and there was some other blonde girl (actually lady.. same age group.. probably a famous actress... but i couldnt recognize who she was) but in my dream, j.lo was much thinner.. and was like a maid, and married.. as was the other lady.. and they sort of felt really close to each other.. (which will make the last part of the dream be much weirder.. or maybe it will give it meaning and sense?)in any case.. it became progressively more obvious that they felt really close to each other, such that at some point we were all in a pool, and j.lo was like wading towards the other lady, until they were next to each other, and then i looked away for a moment and when i looked again, *kabam!* they had had an operation to join themselves to each other.. siamese style.. they shared everything below the belly, but had two trunks.. i know.. it was the friggin weirdest thing ever.. j.lo on the left, and the other lady on the right.. and oddly enough.. wait for this now.. after that.. i heard the lady say something else (dont ask me what.. cuz i dont remember, not that i refuse to say) and she was saying it from the left side!! at this point i looked and noticed that their lower half belonged to my wife. (at this point something else happened and then i woke up).. gah, my dreams are weird..

[8:12:25]

im starting to grow a great affinity for awk.. which will prove to be very useful once i get the basics for it.. sed just feels too limited sometimes..
and in other news, i finally got my first official development task assigned to me yesterday or was it monday?.. no yeah it was monday.. i remember because yesterday we had some meeting, and the day before.. no wait, no yeah, monday, because tuesday we.. nono, it was tuesday.. yeah, because on that same day, they held a meeting specifically to show me what to do, and explain some stuff.. and.. maaan if i wasnt soo exhausted that i was falling asleep!! my head was bobbing up and down.. but i never really fell asleep.. yeah, really great example im setting here.. after the meeting one of the guys was like "you can wake up now".. ohhh so embarrassing.. i was falling asleep in my office before the meeting.. so its not like the meeting was sooo boring, but rather, i was just zero-energy.. probably due to the fact that i was still recuperating from my week of illness last week.. and that i had slept nothing from saturday to sunday..

watch the horror as two people get trapped on an escalator

[12:01:12]

holey, i had this dream this morning (by the way im back at work.. not sure how good an idea it was to come in today, but alas, here i am.. i almost passed out on my way out of my office.. so i walked back, ate half a banana.. and went to the meeting) and in the dream, i was holding (or for some reason had hanging on me) two small scorpions, a white one and a black one.. which both decided to sting me.. so i got my brother to try to give me the antidote (some shot that required assembly.. with needle and this other thing that you had to light on fire and put on a small metal thing) but he kept fumbling around with it that i decided to do it myself, but then it was almost too late, and i could no longer put it together, and my hand was turning purple (if it went black, it meant it was too late.. im not sure if it meant i would lose my hand or die.. ) and i saw my mom and my sister there, and i kept telling them to help me.. but, and this is the clencher, they didnt care!! like they would just look at me, and my hand going slowly black.. and they had his expression like "so what??" and they wouldnt help me.. there was some other stuff that i dont remember right now, but i woke up all oddly sweaty.. like only on the "palm" of my elbows and knees (if you understand what that means) and certain other parts where skin folds.. like around my armpits.. it was weird, and i realized i had been sleeping on my hand (which explains the scorpion stings.. but not why there was two.. or why they were small, or why one was white the other black, or why the HELL my family didnt care!! (but this is sort of a recurring theme in my life tho.. heh.)) so yeah.. that was my morning. did i mention that i missed CAKE at work this week?? yeah, they gave away gifts and cake and who knows what other great things went on that i missed out on.. all cuz i had to be sick... i better see all my family members up there in heaven when die.

[23:28:59]

ok, so heres the dilly, ive been soo terribly sick this entire week, like nothing before.. i was fasting on sunday, and i was leading the special once-a-month service that we have here called a "concierto de oracion" or "prayer concert" which is usually just a way of doing things a bit different that day instead of a sermon and worship, we mix it up and have worship interspersed thoughout service and small bits of message-type things, and some other stuff.. well this time, we had the prayer wall going (large sheets of paper where people write down the names of people they want to be saved, and then they pray for them.. its really nice) and then hand washing (where the leaders of the church wash the hands of the rest of the members) and then the Lord's Supper, with flatbread and grape juice.. honestly its one of the most beautiful things ever.. and then followed by a ring of people around the whole church holding hands and dancing in a circle.. it was really great, and people were really enjoying it. and so since this is evangelism month at our church, we also have a month of fasting, where at any given day, at least one person is fasting, so, sunday was my day, and that, added with the fact that we were worshipping like crazy.. well, lets put it this way, i expended lots of energy.. (thats in case you needed a worldly explanation to the next part of my story) so, sunday was dedicated to fasting for my dad.. and last year, i dont know if i blogged this or not, but i also fasted for my dad (and brother and sister and both grandmas) and during my fast for my dad, my body went berzerk, and i can honestly say it felt like my body was being used as a battlefield for my dad's soul.. i had a cold sweat, my stomach had such piercing pain as i cannot explain, i was vomiting so much that eventually i began vomiting bile, all the while having diarrhea, and apparently i looked like a ghost too.. samo said i was really pale.. and i basically could not stay in the same position for more than a few seconds without feeling completely uncomfortable.. it was just soo terrible.. i tried breaking my fast, but i kept throwing up.. that it just didnt make sense.. so i kept the fast going.. well, that was last year.. this year.. its a bit different.. after only a day and a bit of fasting, i woke up at 5am.. feeling terrible.. i was shaking and just feeling way too weak.. one thing i forgot to mention above, fasting is not a new thing for me, ive fasted for 5 days before without a problem at all.. so the fact that this would have happened at all, and especially after only the first day, it speaks volumes as to the significance of what i was doing.. and fasting in general. anyways, so i wake up at 5am, weak, shaking, and generally feeling like crap.. so i decide to break fast, (the bible says you should break fast if its affecting your health) and i ate a little bit.. bad idea? a few moments later.. mope my way over to the washroom (man, im soo canadianized now) and sit my bum and just release.. my wife eventually woke up.. i flushed and went back to the living room and lay there.. feeling terrible.. a moment later hurriedly mope my way back to the washroom and i was feeling it, so i brough my barf-bowl along.. and indeed, i needed it.. it was coming out of both ends.. and with some incredibly sharp stomach pains.. however, unlike last time, this was the only time i threw up.. after i was done, i flushed and went back to the living room.. this continued for the rest of the day until the afternoon.. i was feeling a bit better. i actually planned on going to work the next day.. nope, no dice, woke up at around 5am, and back to it.. sharp stomach pains, and more diarrhea.. [oh, and note to self, when having incessant diarrhea, there is no such thing as a fart.. only more diarrhea.. lesson learned] now, it would not cease.. and right up until today.. i tried calling my doctor (because obviously, with diarrhea every 15minutes, its impossible to leave the house, much less to go sit for an hour waiting to be called on), but apparently, it is currently unheard of that doctors should make house calls... (really???) i tried searching all over the net, i called hospitals etc.. nobody could give me a single number of a doctor that does house calls.. so i called my pastor to see if he had a number or something, but nothing.. i called joelie, and he said he would ask someone and then said something about a pharmacy.. and i thought "of course! they would know!!" so i call the pharmacy and they tell me to take some immodium.. so joelie calls back, and i tell him, and he hooks me up, drives all the way here and gives them to me.. almost immediate relief.. i took the first dose of two pills, and while the sharp stomach pains continued i no longer had diarrhea till later that night.. hours later.. however, and this is just what leads me to believe that it cant just be one of those "things".. on monday and tuesday i remember actually making note to myself that i wasnt at ALL coughing.. which for me, apparently, is really odd.. (i get those 3-month long coughs) then today, after the end of the diarrhea episode, the coughing began. hoo boy.. i had coughed a few times i think earlier that day.. and i had a really horrible headache every time i did.. (yeah, anything else to be added to the experience?) but now, it was a barrage of coughs each with its own little headache, just for kicks.. if i didnt talk the coughing receded.. but if you know my wife.. shes very inquisitive, and constantly forced me to answer something or another, after a while i just told her, "youre making me cough more".. so she toned it down, then the pastor called to see how i was doing, and i coughed his ear off.. i almost talked.. he passed by and dropped off some cough medicine.
at this point i make a break in the story (since its almost over anyways) to mention, i am not a fan of medicine, my official policy regarding medicine is, i wont take it unless its vitamin C or alka seltzer, or if its on doctors orders. so me actually taking cough medicine is pretty serious.
this whole post to say one thing, i think fasting is a powerful thing, and the things ive seen happen in my dad's life reassure me of this. i will continue to fast for those i love until the Lord moves their hearts towards repentance.. i offer up my food as sacrifice, and instead of food, i offer up my prayer, in hunger pains, i pray, every time i remember what im doing, i pray. i offer up my body as a battlefield for the souls of my family members, may they learn to love the Lord as i do, and change their lives around and start living in Him. (i want to say amen here, as it should be a prayer, but im telling you guys. ill pray it up as well.)

[15:50:36]

wow, this stuff is really really interesting, how about the following Conspiracy of Science - Earth is in fact growing?? ignore the millions/billions of years talk, but the rest is really interesting

This video is a Neal Adams animation about his theory that the Earth is growing. This collides with the Pangea theory. Watch it, you will be amazed.
it basically deals with the theory (which by their video looks quite plausible) that earth is growing, and was much smaller before.. now, if the earth is smaller, does that mean that rotation about its axis was faster, and therefore days shorter, and also, that it was closer to the sun, and therefore years were shorter too?? also, that therefore, if, say there happened to be living beings, they would have to be protected by some sort of "stronger" atmosphere (perhaps much thicker, even, water-based..) and that therefore, they would live longer periods of time.. and that if that atmosphere were to suddenly condense and precipitate, would probably cause a worldwide flood, not including the fact that "where did all the water come from that we have now??" which is not mentioned in the video.. it had to be somewhere.. like.. all over the place!! hmm.. just more stuff to ponder in our ventures into genesis

more cool stuff, cuz you cant get tired of linking away.. GLAT - Google Labs Aptitude Test -- have you ever wanted to know what questions google would ask of a prospective employee of their google labs?? well, how about: "write a haiku describing possible methods for predicting search traffic seasonality".. or "whats broken with unix and how would you fix it?".. well, my answer to the last question would be, "multimedia, especially sound.. and user-friendliness.. but ubuntu is taking that to hands, so i would fix it by sleeping 5 years, and when i wake up *poof* its all fixed!!" now will they hire me??

[14:45:07]

is she (Jordan's Queen Rania) the first to say this?? cuz its the first time i hear it, (from the mouth of a muslim, i mean)

Jordan's Queen Rania said, during a conference in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia: "We must deal with the frightening reality that most of the terror operations in recent years have been carried out by individuals claiming to be acting in the name of Islam... It is our moral responsibility to oppose the violent and extremist voices that are emerging from our home."
ive been saying this for a while, but muslims need to be self-corrective of their own radicals.. and thats exactly what has not been going on..

[14:41:34]

now, where did all the water that flooded the earth in noah's flood go?? huh? huh, you christians?? perhaaaaaps part of it is in a Huge Underground "Ocean" Found Beneath Asia

Researchers found the underground "ocean" while scanning seismic waves as they passed through Earth's interior.
[...]
"It isn't an ocean. [The water] is a very low percentage [of the rock], probably less than 0.1 percent."
Given the region's size, however, that's enough to add up to a vast amount of water.
[...]
The water got there by the process of plate tectonics, in which sections of the Earth's crust shift. This process caused the ocean bottom to be pulled beneath continental plates all around the Pacific Rim.
cool, huh?

[10:49:19]

The Wisconsin-based Freedom From Religion Foundation has sued to get rid of crosses in city parks, to end Good Friday public holidays and, most vigorously, to thwart President Bush's faith-based initiative.

Now, the group that for 30 years has sought a firm divide between church and state will be at the Supreme Court on Wednesday in a case that could affect taxpayers' ability to challenge — and government's ability to defend — a multitude of public programs that involve groups with a religious affiliation.

The White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives was set up in 2001 to help religious groups compete with secular organizations for federal grants to provide social services.
so, let me get this straight, atheists, who are shown to be less likely to give to charity [see quote below], are not satisfied by this fact, and want to stop government sponsored faith based charitable initiatives and solutions??? what the friggin HAIL is wrong with them??!! its not enough to make a mockery of everyones beliefs (except their own, stupid, "i can do it myself", and "im soo great" strain of idiocy) and its not enough that all they ever do is attack those who actually DO some good, simply because they believe in something they dont.. seriously. the more and more atheists open their mouths, the more and more i become solidly convinced that theres no way any of what comes out of it is true. you see, i like to consider people's positions honestly and with as little bias as i can.. its the only way i can corroborate that what i believe in is true.. so, when an atheist asks me if its possible that there is no God (obviosly in response to me asking them something along the lines of the opposite) i can honestly say "yes".. why? because its also possible that we are stuck in the matrix.. but, for some (very valid, and life-changing) reason i have decided to believe that we are not stuck in the matrix, and that there is a loving God out there. this also inspires me to do selfless acts of kindness and charity.. like, doing stuff for free instead of always asking to be reimbursed for stuff.. The Right Cares [very interesting article, go read it all]
When we look at actual private charity, however, we see conservatives do just fine. For example, conservative-headed families in 2000 gave about 30 percent more money per year than liberal-headed families on average, while (in these data, at least), earning 6 percent less income.
[...]
My book explores four areas of our culture that lead people to give, or not: religious faith, attitudes about the government’s role in our lives, the source of one’s income, and family. These are the big drivers of giving in America today, and the biggest is religion. Religious folks give far more than secularists in every way I’ve been able to measure. For example, people who attend a house of worship every week are 25 percentage points more likely to give to charity each year than people who never go to church, and give away about four times as much money. And this is not just a question of religious people giving to their churches, as meritorious as that might be: They also give and volunteer significantly more to explicitly nonreligious causes and charities.

Obviously, religion also correlates pretty strongly with politics, which is one reason why conservatives appear to give so much.
[...]
It’s probably not surprising to NRO readers, but it is surprising to a lot of folks out there, who see religion as superstition leading people to be less accepting of others, and religious contributions as little more than glorified country club dues. Many people I know find it almost unbelievable that religious people are 21 percentage points more likely than secularists to volunteer for totally nonreligious causes; or that they are about twice as likely to donate blood.
and my response to some atheist's ridiculous take on these numbers.. including attacking the reason why christians give, and where the money goes.. etc etc.. (ugh)
hmm, interesting, i dont think i have EVER heard a pastor preach about or even mention giving to charity as something we christians should do.. i guess thats just insider information, but however, the fact that the numbers are so high must mean something else. also insider information, "not giving to charity" is in no way implied to be something that would send you to hell, not in the bible does it say this, nor have i heard anyone say this. second, there is no way to "win" your way into heaven, its a free gift God offers of Himself, and to those who choose to accept it (or were you plugging your ears when Christians talked to you about the Gospel?) so, where again does the motivation, whether it be fear of hell or reward of heaven, come from?? or is this just another of your fantastically made up reasons to criticize and make a mockery of christians and their beliefs? again, im an insider, but i dont really know what is being preached in mosques so i cant speak for them.. i have been to one or two synagogues, and they didnt preach either of these two things.. but again, i cant speak for them. however, is their inclination to giving perhaps out of gratitude for already having received that gift that God offers? or perhaps simply because something inside them motivates them?

also, it is interesting to see your mental gymnastics in trying to spin doctor the facts into saying that it would be better if people stopped giving their tithes.. because then we would give more(???) to give to other causes.. even tho the studies mentioned and ones ive heard of actually do make that distinction of money donated to non-religious causes as opposed to money going to their churches.. and THAT is where the difference shows, they still on average are more likely to give.. and thats on TOP of their tithe..

also, i doubt anyone is proposing that because christians give more, their beliefs must be true.. but thanks for the example of a strawman fallacy
seriously, its ok to believe there is no god.. thats fine, as fine as believing anything else out there to be believed.. but, when you start attacking theists especially christians, and the ultimate, when you start attacking the bible and Christ Himself.. thats when you set yourself up to say idiocies and be exposed to be found a first class hypocrite...

christians are flawed, deal with it, but dont think that because the followers are flawed, that the leader is too..
